| Now that we have three editions
under our belt (and a much better idea of what our
operating costs actually are), we have reviewed our
pricing structure and come up with what we hope is a more
practical approach to the situation. Our prices
will be increasing, beginning with the May edition. However, we are expanding our coverage area (from Astle to Boiestown to Blissfield and all points in between)With a new format and a larger coverage area, advertisers will get more value for their advertising dollar, so that hopefully youll see more people responding to your ads, and more paying customers attending local events and activities. Most importantly, we want our Newsletter to promote activities and encourage participation throughout all of the Upper Miramichi and we think that by expanding our coverage area, well go a long way toward accomplishing that objective. One of the things that immediately came to our attention was the number of hours that volunteers have been unselfishly contributing to this Newsletter for years. We doubt that many of you realize that Esma Brennan (and Kathleen Lyons before her) donated their leisure time to running off copy after copy of this paper at the Village office. And did you know that Janice Taylor (who now lives in PEI) volunteers her time to upload our content to the Village website? In all fairness, we feel enough is enough and rather than burn these people out completely, we simply had to take steps to rectify the situation. Copies of our new price structure are now available from the CAL Net Office at DCHS you can pick one up or we can e-mail them to you if you contact us at cal.doaktown@gnb.ca or 365-2000. As for our regular contributors, we will make every effort to forward a copy to you within the next several days. In closing, we want to say a very fervent thank you to all of you who have helped with this project over the last several months. We sincerely appreciate your contribution and hope that, as we continue to evolve, the Newsletter will see a greater emphasis on announcements of a more personal nature. Now that we are better able to include photos, wont you think about sending us news of a new grandchilds first birthday or that special anniversary or perhaps a wedding picture? And with our new classifieds section, theres added opportunity for getting rid of that old bookcase or maybe that snow blower thats definitely seen its last winter. All of these things make us and our community more interesting and besides, advertising in the Newsletter is a lot easier and more effective -- than making up your own posters and tacking them up around the countryside. So think about us and bring it on!!! ATTENTION: Payment for
advertisements or announcements carried by this
Newsletter can be made in the form of a cheque (made
payable to Experience Doaktown) or in cash, and
either mailed to the CAL Net Center at 430 Main Street.
Doaktown E9C 1E8 or dropped off at the CAL Net Center in
the Doaktown High School. Information for the Newsletter can also be e-mailed to the Cal Net Center at cal.doaktown@gnb.ca |
